The Guangdong Dance Festival has been exploring and innovating for two decades since 2004. Each year, the Festival invites excellent contemporary dance troupes from both international and domestic sources to perform and exchange ideas. Through a series of activities such as performances, promotion, and dance trade fairs, dozens of contemporary dance masterpieces from different regions and styles, as well as workshops by talented choreogrophers and excellent dances, will be presented to the audience. So far, hundreds of dance troupes from over 20 countries and regions around the world have participated in Guangdong Dance Festival, performing over 200 works. The establishment of Guangdong Dance Festival as an activity platform has provided a space for more independent dancers and young artists to showcase their talents, and has built a bridge for academic and dance practice exchange and mutual learning.
As a contemporary urban cultural brand in Guangdong, Guangdong Dance Festival has undergone 20 years of exploration and development, becoming one of the longest, largest, and highest standard international platform for contemporary dance art exhibition and exchange in China. It has a wide influence in the contemporary dance industry both domestically and internationally, and is highly welcomed by art enthusiasts in Guangzhou.
Looking ahead to the future, Guangdong Dance Festival will actively integrate into the construction of a strong cultural province in Guangdong, by targeting a wider range of regions and populations, drawing on the strengths of others, innovating courageously, and bringing wonderful performances showcasing the wisdom of Chinese contemporary dance to the audience.
